Molotov Glasses / 2024
This work features a series of cocktail glasses made out of cement and broken glass. Cement, a material deeply intertwined with the working class, primarily because of its vital role in construction and industrial labour, replaces the sophistication and fragility of glass, while the shards substitute the glittering, crystalline look of sugar.
The newly formed object aims to speak to themes of class discrepancy, security, protest, and violence, sharply contrasting with the symbolism of indulgence, leisure, and luxury often associated with traditional cocktail glasses.
The project was developed in collaboration with ceramist Alina Dimofte.
