Thought follows thought / 2020
This work explores the Buddhist concept of “no self,” suggesting that the notion of a fixed identity is an illusion generated by the mind through the continuous cycle of thoughts.
It draws parallels between the mind’s tendency to perceive continuity and the way the eye interprets individual points of light, such as those from the spinning LED fan, as a cohesive image. Just as a series of rapidly cycling lights gives the illusion of a steady image, the repetition of thought patterns creates the illusion of a stable self — despite the fluidity and impermanence of each individual moment.
